I disagree with Dr. Kass. People should write living wills. Although it may be impossible to predict every scenario you may encounter, that doesn't mean we shouldn't express our basic wishes. I don't see any point for prolonged pain and suffering. Why should an end-stage dementia patient, be kept alive through a feeding tube if he/she has forgotten to swallow? I know I wouldn't want to keep living!
